ROBERT SHRIVER, JR.  

 Bob Shriver was born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania.  He graduated from Easton Area High School (EAHS) in 1967 and from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA in 1971. 

           

Bob was named the James Nobel Award winner from EAHS in 1967 for scholastic and athletic accomplishments.  While at Geneva College, he placed second in a national Latin examination and was named Most Valuable Offensive Football Player in 1969 and Most Valuable Player in 1970.  He also served as co-captain of the Geneva football team in 1969 & 1970 and was named Senor Male Student of the Year in 1971. 

 

He was hired at EAHS in 1971 as a social studies teacher and assistant junior varsity football coach.  He served as varsity line coach from 1974 through 1979 and was named head football coach at EAHS beginning with the 1980 season.  Bob served in that capacity through the 1992 season.  He was named “Express-Times Coach of the Year” in 1986 and again in 1991.  His teams were East Penn Conference champions in 1986, 1987 and 1991.  His teams were District XI Champions in 1990, and 1991 and P.I.A.A. Eastern Conference Finalist in 1991.  His Easton teams set school records for consecutive wins (19) in 1986 and 1987 and for seasonal wins (13) in 1991.  Bob served as Treasurer for the Lehigh Valley McDonald’s All Star Classic from 1984 through 1992 and was named to that organization’s Hall of Fame in 1994. 

 

He served as President of the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches’ Association in 1992 and was an assistant coach of the Pennsylvania team in the 1993 Big 33 Football Classic.  Bob resigned as head football coach at EAHS in 1993 after being named Easton’s Director of Athletics.  His teams compiled a record of 105-50-2 in his thirteen seasons as head football coach.  Bob was named District XI Athletic Director of the Year in 1998 and the Easton Area School District’s “Schoolmen of the Year” in 2002.  He was also the honoree for “Easton Area High School Day” in 2006. 

           

Bob taught Advanced Placement European History at EAHS and served as a national reader of Advanced Placement European History Exams in 1988 and 1989.  Bob retired from EAHS in 2004 after having successfully coordinated all nine instructional buildings in the Easton Area School District through the Accreditation For Growth Process of the Middle States Association.

           

Bob wants to extend his appreciation to his students, players, assistant coaches and most importantly, his family for any successes he has enjoyed in his career.
